Orioles 8, White Sox 4 — At Baltimore, Jonathan Villar and Adam
Jones homered for Baltimore, which scored five runs in the first and guaranteed it can’t match the 1962 Mets’ major league record of 120 losses in a season.
Twins 9, Royals 6 — At Kansas City, Mo., Tyler Austin hit one of Minnesota’s four home runs and made a spectacular catch while flipping into the dugout down the first-base line as the Twins averted a four-game sweep.
Tigers 6, Indians 4 — At Cleveland, Jim Adduci homered and totaled four
RBIS for Detroit, which benefited with AL Central champion Cleveland resting several regulars. Milwaukee, Trevor Williams (13-9) shut out Milwaukee on two hits over six innings, and Pittsburgh overcame home runs by Jesus Aguilar and Domingo Santana on consecutive pitches by Felipe Vazquez in the ninth.
