At Berkeley, Calif., Justin Herbert threw two touchdown passes and La’mar Winston Jr. returned a fumble for a touchdown to help the Ducks (4-1, 1-1 Pac-12) bounce back from a crushing loss a week earlier by beating the Golden Bears (3-1, 0-1). Travis Dye ran for 115 yards and a touchdown, C.J. Vardell ran for 106 yards and the Ducks got a big road win after losing all four conference games away from home a year ago.

Southern California 24, Arizona 20 — At Tucson, Ariz., Aca’cedric Ware ran for 197 yards and two touchdowns, and the Trojans (3-2, 2-1 Pac-12) overcame a rash of penalties to hold off the Wildcats (2-3, 1-1). USC dominated the Wildcats while building a 24-point third-quarter lead, but lost two fourth-quarter fumbles to let Arizona back in it. The Trojans also had 18 penalties for 169 yards, including a pass interferen­ce call that negated an intercepti­on in the fourth quarter.

At Tempe, Ariz., Eno Benjamin rushed for a school-record 312 yards on 30 carries and scored four touchdowns as the Sun Devils (3-2, 1-1 Pac-12) beat the Sun Devils (1-4, 0-2), giving coach Herm Edwards his first conference victory. Benjamin, a sophomore, scored on runs of 44, 47 and 10 yards and caught an 8-yard touchdown pass.

Arizona State 52, Oregon State 24 — Mountain West Fresno State 49, Toledo 27 —

At Fresno, Calif., Marcus Mcmaryion passed for 368 yards and accounted for five touchdowns and the Bulldogs (3-1) scored 42 consecutiv­e points in beating the Rockets (2-2). Mcmaryion was 24-of-31 passing with four touchdowns and an intercepti­on. His 6-yard scoring run gave Fresno State a 49-13 lead late in the third quarter.
