Details unfold for Mickelson, Woods match

After more than a month of silence, more details about the match play event between Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods have trickled out.

According to a 30-second video posted on Twitter by Bleacher Report, the event:

Will be called “The Match: Tiger vs. Phil.”

Is scheduled for Nov. 23. Features a $9 million prize. Is set for Las Vegas’ Shadow Creek Golf Club.

Will be streamed on digital devices by Bleacher Report Live.

Still unclear is the cost — and the availabili­ty — of tickets, broadcast plans and where the $9 million will come from.

At Napa, Calif., Brandt Snedeker birdied the final two holes for a 7-under-par 65 and a 13-under 132 total for a threeshot lead in the season-opening Safeway Open over Phil Mickelson (69), UNLV product Ryan Moore (67) and Michael Thompson (65).

First-round leader Sepp Straka followed his opening 63 with a 72 to drop into a tie for fifth at 9 under with Kevin Tway (67) and Sungjae Im (69). Ricky Barnes matched the course record with a 61 to get to 8 under.

At Incheon, South Korea, Michelle Wie and Jessica Korda led the way as the United States won both fourball matches against Thailand to move to the top of Pool B in the eight-nation tournament. Cristie Kerr and Lexi Thompson also won for the defending champion U.S., which has six points. Sweden is next with four, and Japan and Thailand have three each. England leads Pool A with seven points.

At St. Andrews, Scotland, Andrea Pavan shot 9-under 63 at Kingsbarns to share the lead with Lucas Bjerregaar­d after two rounds of the Dunhill Links Championsh­ip.
