Warriors’ late clinic overwhelms Knicks

Durant scores 25 of his 41 in final quarter

NEW YORK — Ifthisiswh­atkevin Durant can do at Madison Square Garden, no wonder Knicks fans are so desperate for him to come to New York.

This kind of show was worth seeing more than once a season.

Durant scored 25 of his 41 points in Golden State’s ruthless fourth-quarter clinic Friday as the Warriors beat the Knicks 128-100.

Durant was the center of attention leading into the game and then the star of it in front of fans who hope he will consider the Knicks if he becomes a free agent this summer.

He’s not interested in the off-thecourt stuff now, but he loved what happened on the floor in his 10-for-13 final quarter. “It feels like when you catch every green light when you’re going somewhere,” Durant said.

New York led by three after three quarters before Durant and the Warriors starting hitting from all over the floor, making 19 of 26 shots.

Stephen Curry added 29 points with six 3-pointers, giving him at least five in every game this season.

Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 24 points for the Knicks, who have dropped five in a row after a season-opening victory over Atlanta.

Atnew Orleans, Jrue Holiday hit a pull-up jumper near the foul line with two seconds left and totaled 26 points for New Orleans (4-0), which scored nine straight points over the final 1:49 and held on when Anthony Davis stole Brooklyn’s final inbound pass.

At Sacramento, Calif., Buddy Hield hit three free throws over the final 20 seconds and totaled 22 points, and Nemanja Bjelica had 24 points and 12 rebounds for Sacramento. Washington, which led by six entering the fourth quarter, committed three turnovers in the final 24 seconds.

At Minneapoli­s, Giannis Antetokoun­mpo had 15 points and 12 rebounds in 23 minutes for Milwaukee, which made 19 3-pointers and moved to 5-0 for the second time in franchise history.

At Houston, Montrezl Harrell had a career-high 30 points off the bench to lead six double-figure scorers for Los Angeles, which beat Houston (1-4) for the second time this season. The Rockets were without MVP James Harden (hamstring).

At Toronto, Kyle Lowry had 20 points and 12 assists and Kawhi Leonard 21 points for Toronto, which set a franchise record with its sixth straight win to start the season. Deandre Jordan had 18 points and 15 rebounds for Dallas.

At Charlotte, N.C., Kemba Walker had 30 points, seven assists and six rebounds for Charlotte, which missed its first 11 3-point attempts before making 14 of their final 22 in their first home win of the season.
