Schauffele edges Finau for WGC Shanghai win
Xander Schauffele gave the Americans a sweep of the World Golf Championships, making birdie on his final three holes to beat Tony Finau in a one-hole playoff and win the HSBC Champions in Shanghai.
Schauffele, 25, shot 4-under 68, the lowest score of the final round, to match Finau (71) at 14-under 274 before securing his first victory in 13 months.
PGA: At Jackson, Miss., Cameron Champ recovered after giving up a four-shot lead by posting birdies on five of his last six holes to close with a 4-under 68 for a 21-under 267 total in the Sanderson Farms Championship, winning by four strokes over Corey Conners (68) for his first victory in his ninth tour start.
LPGA: At Taoyuan, Taiwan, Nelly Korda, 20, won the Swinging Skirts Taiwan Championship for her first tour victory, closing with a4-under68fora13-under275 total to beat runner-up Minjee Lee by two strokes.
Champions: At Thousand Oaks, Calif., Scott Parel shot 4-under 68 for an 11-under 205 total and a one-stroke win over Paul Goydos (67) in the Invesco QQQ Championship playoff event, his second victory in two months.
SNGA: At Las Vegas Golf Club, Coronado High junior Brett Sodetz shot 15-under 129 to win the Las Vegas City Amateur, a Southern Nevada Golf Association major. He closed with a 9-under 63 for a one-stroke victory over Hazen Newman, an Arbor View senior and Oklahoma State commit.
