-

A man was fatally shot Monday near downtown Las Vegas during a fistfight that developed from a road-rage event, police said.

Police responded about 8:10 p.m. to 1101 E. Bonanza Road to a report of a shooting and found the man with a gunshot wound. He died at University Medical Center.

A Metropolitan Police Department release called the shooting a “road rage” killing.

The victim and another man were in a car heading south on Maryland Parkway, according to a news release by police. As the car approached a green light at Bonanza Road, two other men were jaywalking across the street.

The driver slowed and argued with the jaywalkers, who walked into the parking lot of a convenience store, the release said.

The victim drove into the lot, got out of his car and began to fight with the two men. One of the two jaywalkers pulled a gun and shot the driver during the fight, the release said.

The two men ran off and were still being sought by police on Tuesday.

Police described the two men as black, between 5 feet, 6 inches and 5 feet, 8 inches tall and 18 to 22 years old. One was wearing a gray sweater and black pants; the other a black jacket and a white T-shirt.
