Avalanche top Ducks in final seconds of OT
ANAHEIM, Calif. — Mikko Rantanen scored on a power-play slap shot with 1.3 seconds left in overtime to send the Colorado Avalanche a 4-3 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday.
Nathan Mackinnon scored twice and Rantanen had two assists for the Avalanche, who overcame a 3-1 deficit to hand the Ducks their 12th loss in 15 games.
Sven Andrighetto also had a goal to back winner Philipp Grubauer, who stopped 30 shots.
Brandon Montour had a goal and two assists, Ryan Getzlaf and Ondrej Kase also scored for Anaheim, and Ryan Miller made 38 saves.
Mackinnon tied it 3-all at
11:20 of the third period, taking a nice feed from Rantanen behind the net.
Montour’s goal opened the scoring 4:45 into the first period, just the fourth time in their past 15 games that the Ducks scored first.
Colorado tied it at 1 when Andrighetto got a pass from Patrick Nemeth and slipped the puck past Miller. Anaheim regained the lead with a powerplay goal a minute later as
Getzlaf fired a slap shot from long range that beat Grubauer up high.
Kase’s first goal of the season, a tip-in of a shot by Montour, put the Ducks up 3-1.

At Raleigh, N.C., Justin Williams and Micheal Ferland scored in the opening 30 seconds, tying the fifth-fastest start in NHL history, in support of Curtis Mcelhinney, who stopped 33 shots.
Blackhawks 3, Wild 1 — Chicago, Jonathan Toews and Brandon Saad scored in the first period to back Corey Crawford, who had 39 saves, as Chicago improved to 2-2-2 under coach Jeremy Colliton.
Stars 6, Islanders 2 — At New York, Esa Lindell scored twice during Dallas’ four-goal second period, Alexander
Radulov had two goals and an assist, and Tyler Seguin had a goal and two assists.
