Thompson wins LPGA finale; Jutanugarn takes season title
Lexi Thompson shot 2-under-par 70 for an 18-under 270 total to win the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship by four strokes over Nelly Korda.
The win makes this the sixth consecutive year that Thompson has won at least once, extending the longest such active streak on the LPGA Tour.
Top-ranked Ariya Jutanugarn clinched the yearlong Race to the CME Globe prize and the Vare Trophy for winning the season scoring title. She shot 66 to tie for fifth at 12-under 276, finishing with a 69.415 scoring average.
European PGA: At Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Danny Willett closed with a 4-under 68 for an 18-under 270 to win the season-ending DP World Tour Championship by two shots, his first victory since the 2016 Masters. Francesco Molinari tied for 26th to take the Race to Dubai prize.
SNGA: At Boulder Creek Golf Club, Greg Horodesky finished at 4-under 140 to win the Clark County Amateur by three shots over
Daren Johnson and Lorenzo Gillenwater. It was Horodesky’s third career Southern Nevada Golf Association major title.
PGA: At St. Simons Island, Ga., Charles Howell III made a 15-foot birdie putt on the second hole of a playoff with Patrick Rodgers in the RSM Classic to end an 11-year victory drought. Howell closed with a 3-under 67 to match Rodgers at 19-under 263.
PGA of Australasia: At Sydney, Abraham Ancer of Mexico closed with a 3-under 69 for a 16-under 272 total and a five-stroke victory in the Australian Open.
