Panthers forward undergoes ankle surgery

Panthers forward Vincent Trocheck had surgery for a fractured ankle and might play again this season.

Trocheck was hurt when he twisted his right leg while chasing the puck near the end boards in Monday’s game at Ottawa. He was taken off the ice on a stretcher.

The 2017 NHL All-star has three goals and 14 points in 18 games this season.

Trocheck tweeted “surgery was a success” and “I’ll be back before you know it.”

Rantanen was docked $2,000 under the league’s program designed to discourage diving and embellishm­ent. He was warned for a play

Oct. 16 at the Rangers. His second offense occurred late in the second period against Boston on Nov. 14, with Patrice Bergeron receiving a penalty for hooking and Rantanen for embellishm­ent.

A third offense for Rantanen would result in a $3,000 fine.

Rantanen leads the league in scoring with eight goals and 24 assists this season.

Ducks: The city of Anaheim approved a deal that will keep the Ducks in the Honda Center through at least 2048.

The City Council approved a deal that extends the current Ducks agreement, which ends in 2023, by 25 years. The deal also permits up to five additional five-year extensions.
