Three pedestrians were injured, one critically, after being struck by an SUV that ran a red light Sunday in the southeast valley, according to Henderson police.

The crash happened after a highspeed chase, Henderson Police Department spokesman Rod Pena said.

About 1:30 p.m., an officer spotted a white SUV at Collins Drive and Westminster Way and checked the license plates, and “it showed as being stolen,” Pena said. The officer tried to pull over the driver, but the SUV took off, Pena said.

At some point officers stopped chasing the SUV, “due to high speeds,” he said.

The SUV drove north on South Boulder Highway, approaching the intersection with East Lake Mead Parkway, about a mile from the attempted traffic stop. It ran a red light at the intersection and hit three of the seven pedestrians who were using a crosswalk, Pena said.

Two women and a man were taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where the man was in critical condition Sunday, he said.

Police are still looking for the driver of the white SUV, which fled the scene.
