Notable FCS QB set to join Washington State

Former Eastern Washington quarterback Gage Gubrud will be a graduate transfer at Washington State next season, Cougars coach Mike Leach said.

Gubrud, who led Eastern Washington to an upset of Washington State in his first game as a starter in 2016, is a two-time finalist for the Walter Payton Award, given to the FCS’S top offensive player.

Gubrud was hurt five games into 2018 and did not play further as the Eagles lost in the FCS title game. He received a medical redshirt Saturday from the NCAA.

Iowa: Athletic director Gary Barta joined the playoff selection committee, replacing Ohio State AD Gene Smith.
