Truth required on opinion page
A knowledgeable editor recently acknowledged that too many newspapers have recently allowed too much opinion to creep into their news reports. This is a fair criticism.
It is understandable that some of the “letters to the editor” will make major mistakes in logic. But, it is not understandable that newspaper editors and columnists make these same errors. They are professionals or should be. A part of their profession lies in their responsibility to their readers.
A real newspaper should insure that its paid writers are using sound logic, no matter what political position they may be presenting. The truth should always come first.
