Charges dismissed in domestic assault case

Domestic assault charges against Philadelph­ia center fielder Odubel Herrera were dismissed after his girlfriend declined to press charges.

Herrera, 27, an All-star in 2016, must complete counseling within 60daysasa condition of the dismissal and will remain on administra­tive leave with MLB through Friday, when his case will be reevaluate­d.

Herrera’s girlfriend, Melany Martinez-angulo, assured the judge no one pressured her to drop the case.

Rays: Second baseman Brandon Lowe was added to the American League All-star team, but the rookie might not be able to play in the Midsummer Classic because of an injury sustained Tuesday, when he fouled a ball off his right leg. Also, first baseman Ji-man Choi (left ankle strain) was placed on the 10-day injured list.

Angels: Infielder Tommy La Stella (right tibia fracture) and outfielder Brian Goodwin (right wrist contusion) were placed on the 10-day IL. La Stella, 30, selected to his first All-star team last week, is expected to be sidelined eight to 10 weeks, manager Brad Ausmus said.

Reds: Second baseman Scooter Gennett (tight left groin) exited Cincinnati’s win over Milwaukee after two at-bats. The 2018 All-star was in his fifth game since returning from a right groin injury sustained in spring training.

Athletics: Left-hander Jesus Luzardo, who exited his start Tuesday with the Aviators because of injury, was diagnosed with a Grade 2 latissimus dorsi strain, and
