NCAA declines to implement injury reports to help bettors

-

Standardized injury reports will not be implemented in college football this season after the NCAA explored the possibility in response to the rise of legalized sports betting, determining such a report is not viable.

The NCAA’S Board of Governors said it still supports the association’s rules prohibiting athletes and school administrators from wagering on sports or providing information to people tied to gambling.

Navy: The team changed its 2019 motto from “Load the Clip” to “Win the Day” after reporters from The Capital Gazette in Annapolis, Maryland, questioned whether the slogan was insensitive after last year’s deadly shooting in its newsroom.

Clemson: The program was flagged for eight secondary NCAA violations from July 2018 to June. None were considered major, and all issues regarding the penalties have been resolved, the university said.

Tennessee: Defensive tackle Emmit Gooden, the most experienced player on a line with no returning starters, sustained a torn ACL on Tuesday and will miss the season, coach Jeremy Pruitt said.

Wisconsin: Former wide receiver Quintez Cephus, 21, filed a petition to be readmitted to the university after being found not guilty Friday of sexually assaulting two female students.

Memphis: Former defensive end Ernest Suttles is suing the university over its handling of a 2017 rape allegation that he claims cost him an NFL career.
