Durham’s review ‘full throttle’
WASHINGTON — U.S. Attorney John Durham is going “full throttle” with his review into the origins of the investigation into suspected Russia-trump coordination in the 2016 election, with additional top prosecutors involved in looking at different components of the original probe, sources told Fox News.
Two sources told Fox News that Jeff Jensen, the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri who was tapped by the Justice Department in February to review the case of former national security adviser Michael Flynn, is continuing to help with Durham’s investigation even after the DOJ’S move last week to drop the case against Flynn.
The sources told Fox News that interim U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Timothy Shea is also assisting with components of the investigation.
“They farmed the investigation out because it is too much for
Durham, and he didn’t want to be distracted,” one of the sources told Fox News.
“He’s going full throttle, and they’re looking at everything,” the source told Fox News.
The Justice Department declined to comment on Jensen and Shea’s involvement.
Meanwhile, a source said that the “pattern of conduct” Durham is investigating includes misrepresentations made to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act court to obtain warrants to surveil Trump campaign associate Carter Page.
“(Attorney General Bill) Barr talks to Durham every day,” one source recently told Fox News. “The president has been briefed that the case is being pursued, and it’s serious.”
Rep. Jim Jordan R-ohio, is hoping Durham is “looking hard at holding former FBI Director Jim Comey accountable for abuses during the Russia investigation.”
Jordan made his comments on Tuesday during an interview on “Fox & Friends.”
“The common denominator through all that is Jim Comey,” he said.
The information coming out about the FBI’S investigation of
Flynn casts a “bright light” on the need to get to the bottom of what had happened and the need for reform in the FBI, and that can start this week by passing amendments to the FISA court system, Sen. Mike Lee said Tuesday.
“We know power was abused against the incoming Trump administration, and it was abused against Gen. Flynn, Carter Page and President (Donald) Trump,” the Utah Republican said on Fox News’ “America’s Newsroom.” “We will get to the bottom of this. It’s not a question of if, but when and how deep it runs.”
