Tropicana scheduled to reopen Sept. 1

Tropicana is set to open its doors 10 a.m. Sept. 1, nearly 24 weeks after shutting down in mid-march.

According to a statement from assistant general manager Mike Thoma posted on the property’s website, amenities at the Tropicana will initially be limited.

Restaurant offerings at Tropicana will include Robert Irvine’s Public House, Red Lotus, Bacio, Oakville, Starbucks and the property’s food court. The pool and spa will reopen, with the latter offering “limited offerings.”

Spokesman Jeff Morris referred to the company’s website when asked for further details on the property’s amenities.

“We are very excited about the planned reopening,” Thoma said in the statement. “The ability to safely welcome back our team members and guests remains our top priority.”

The property has been working closely with the Nevada Gaming Control Board, state and local leaders, and public health officials to finalize reopening protocols, according to Thoma. Staff will be trained on the new protocols, and signage reminding guests about the policies will be in placed throughout the property.

Everyone in public areas must wear a mask covering their face and nose. Patrons are allowed to temporarily remove their mask when eating or drinking, or when asked by staff for identification. Those who refuse to comply will be asked to leave the property.

The gaming floor will be limited to 50 percent capacity. There will be no valet services, live music or entertainment, conventions, banquet services, large drawings, tournaments, or special events.

Staff and vendors will be required to wear masks and will undergo temperature screenings before shifts.

Hotel reservations are now available.

The reopening follows that of Penn National Gaming’s other Southern Nevada property, M Resort, which welcomed back guests on June 4.
