Athletes and others with ties to the Oregon State volleyball team said fifth-year coach

Mark Barnard runs an abusive program that has seen 11 players quit or transfer since 2016 and two players contemplat­e suicide, with one attempting an overdose. They told The Associated Press that Barnard pits players against each other at meetings, threatens to revoke scholarshi­ps for struggling players and pushes players past health warnings in practice as punishment. They said they are perplexed at the administra­tion’s indecisive­ness after repeated complaints.

Iowa: Football coach Kirk Ferentz apologized and promised policy changes after an investigat­ion report detailed racial bias against Black players in his program and bullying by some of his assistants. The report said four unidentifi­ed current and former coaches were accused of bullying, demeaning and verbally abusing players.

NCAA: Athletes in all sports will be permitted to wear uniform patches to support social justice issues. A patch must not exceed 2¼ square inches and must be placed on the front or sleeve. Not all team members are required to wear a patch, but team members must wear identical patches.

CFP: The College Football Playoff is evaluating a new timetable for its selection committee meetings and will reconsider its protocols for 2020, executive director Bill Hancock told ESPN.

Arizona: On-campus team activities will resume next week, starting Monday with freshman football players, after no positive COVID-19 tests were reported in the past two weeks.

Texas: The university has no active COVID-19 infections among football, volleyball and basketball players on campus, athletic director Chris Del Conte said.

Ohio State: Home football crowds will be limited to 20,000, and tailgating will be prohibited if the season is played this year, athletic director Gene Smith said.

Colorado State: Football team activities were paused for at least two weeks after eight known COVID-19 positives out of 140 players tested.
