‘The Rock’ pays $15 million for sole ownership of canceled XFL

-

Former professional wrestling star Dwayne “The Rock“Johnson said he has acquired the

XFL.

The 48-year-old Johnson made the announcement Monday on Twitter. The price reportedly is $15 million.

The XFL had eight franchises and played five games out of a planned 10-game schedule before canceling the remainder of its season in March because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It drew decent TV ratings early on and had deals with ESPN and Fox.

The league suspended operations and laid off all of its employees on April 10 and filed for bankruptcy protection on April 13.

Since ending his wrestling career, Johnson has became a movie star, including in the “Fast & Furious” and “Jumanji” franchises.

Packers: Quarterback Aaron Rodgers doesn’t want to speculate just how much longer he might remain in a Green Bay uniform now that the team has drafted his potential successor.

The two-time MVP says he’s just trying to concentrate on the things that remain in his control while remembering to cherish each opportunity.

Chargers: San Diego’s Joey Bosa isn’t known for displaying much emotion on or off the field but becoming the NFL’S highest-paid defensive player has slightly taken him aback.

“The best moment was when I got that call from my dad. A lot of screaming, a lot of colorful language but it was a great moment in the car,” the Los Angeles Chargers defensive end said Monday. “I was telling him to stop because he was making me cry driving home. I was scared I was going to crash.”

Bosa signed his five-year, $135 million extension over the weekend. The two sides agreed to terms last Tuesday when Chargers veterans reported to training camp for physicals.

Browns: Cleveland star wide receiver

Odell Beckham Jr. has fully participated in the early stages of training camp after expressing reservations whether the NFL should forge ahead and have a season with the coronavirus still spreading.

Beckham reported to Cleveland’s camp last week, passed the COVID-19 testing and has taken part in all team activities.
