AROUND THE MAJORS

-

■ DODGERS 11, Padres 2: Mookie Betts joined an elite club with his sixth career three-homer game, tying Johnny Mize and Sammy Sosa for the most in major league history. Betts, who finished 4-for-4 with five RBIS, had been tied with Alex Rodriguez, Mark Mcgwire, Dave Kingman, Carlos Delgado and Joe Carter.

■ Orioles 11, PHILLIES 4: Pedro Severino and Rio Ruiz homered to help Thomas Eshelman (1-0) to his second major league win and cap a threegame sweep. ■ CUBS 4, Brewers 2: Yu Darvish (3-1) held Milwaukee to one run on one hit — a one-out, seventh-inning home run by Justin Smoak — and struck out 11 over seven innings. Kyle Schwarber homered for Chicago, and Ian Happ’s two hits included an RBI double for the Cubs, who are 13-3 for the first time since 1907.

■ Rays 17, RED SOX 5: Hunter Renfroe hit two home runs and totaled three RBIS, and Mike Zunino belted a three-run shot over the Green Monster and out of Fenway Park as Tampa Bay capped a four-game sweep with its sixth straight win and eighth in a row at Fenway.

■ Pirates 9, REDS 6: Adam Frazier hit the second pitch for the first of three home runs off Anthony Desclafani (1-1), who hasn’t beaten Pittsburgh in his past seven tries.

■ METS 8, Nationals 2: Tomas Nido had his first two-homer game as a professional, hitting a two-run shot in the fourth and a grand slam in the fifth.
