North Texas QB coach resigns week after felonious allegation
North Texas quarterbacks coach Tate Wallis, who was arrested Sept. 3 on felony charges of an improper relationship between an educator and student, resigned. Hired at North Texas in January, the allegations stem from Wallace’s time as the offensive coordinator at Argyle High School near Denton, Texas. Wallace previously was a Baylor assistant from 2009 to 2015 before serving four years as a high school coach.
■ Georgia State: After initially being ruled out for the season with a coronavirus-related heart condition, quarterback Mikele Colasurdo was cleared to play after follow-up cardiac evaluations showed the freshman does not suffer from myocarditis or any other heart ailments.
■ Marshall: Senior safety Brandon Lamar Drayton was acquitted of strangulation and domestic battery charges that prompted his suspension from the team last season and will be available to play in the Thundering Herd’s Sept. 19 game.
■ Louisiana State: Defensive end Ray Parker was arrested Wednesday and charged with battery of a dating partner and criminal property damage. Coach Ed Orgeron said Parker indefinitely was suspended for violation of team rules.
■ Stanford: Offensive tackle Walker Little opted out of his senior season to prepare for the NFL draft. The Cardinal’s first true freshman to start at left tackle in 17 years, Little is ESPN’S fifth-rated offensive tackle in next year’s draft class.
