Dallas cancels practice over medical issue
The Dallas Cowboys canceled practice Tuesday after a non-coronavirus medical emergency involving their strength and conditioning coordinator.
The Cowboys said Markus Paul “experienced a medical emergency” Tuesday morning at the facility, where he was immediately treated by team medical personnel before being transported by ambulance to a hospital.
An update from the team later Tuesday said that “per the Paul family, Markus is in the process of undergoing further medical tests.” The Cowboys said additional information would be made available at the “appropriate time.”
Coach Mike Mccarthy’s daily meeting with reporters was canceled, as were interviews with players.
In other team news, backup linebacker and special teams player Luke Gifford was suspended two games without pay for violating the NFL policy on performance-enhancing substances.
■ Browns: Cleveland placed defensive lineman Joe Jackson on the reserve/covid-19 list. In other team news, cornerback Denzel Ward is expected to miss a few weeks with a calf strain.
■ Chargers: Los Angeles plans to designate running back Austin Ekeler (hamstring) for return from injured reserve this week.
■ Chiefs: Kansas City placed wide receiver Byron Pringle on injured reserve.
■ Jets: New York placed running back La’mical Perine and kicker Sam Ficken on injured reserve Tuesday. The team also announced it signed running back Josh Adams and tight end Ross Travis from the practice squad, and re-signed quarterback Mike White to the practice squad.
Jaguars: Jacksonville placed defensive end Josh Allen (knee), cornerback D.J. Hayden (hamstring) and safety Daniel Thomas (arm) on injured reserve Tuesday. Hayden is ineligible to return this season because he already had one stint on IR. The Jaguars (1-9) also placed kicker Chase Mclaughlin on the COVID-19 list.
■ Patriots: Running back Rex Burkhead announced on social media that his recent knee injury will keep him sidelined for the rest of the season.
■ Ravens: Baltimore canceled practice after learning of more positive coronavirus tests Tuesday morning, according to a reports.
■ Texans: Left tackle Laremy Tunsil was back with the team Tuesday after being inactive Sunday with a NON-COVID illness.
■ Titans: Tennessee placed linebacker Jayon Brown and left tackle Ty Sambrailo on injured reserve.
The Titans also designated threetime Pro Bowl punter Brett Kern, cornerback Tye Smith and cornerback Kristian Fulton to return from injured reserve Tuesday. They also waived defensive back Greg Mabin and punter Trevor Daniel.
Seahawks: Running back Chris Carson was a healthy participant at practice for the first time in a month.
49ers: Injured cornerback K’waun Williams has been suspended two games for violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing substances. San Francisco also announced Tuesday that they have opened the injured reserve practice windows for running backs Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson Jr.
