Boise State holds on, tops Brigham Young

PROVO, Utah — Emmanuel Akot hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 13 seconds left to help lift Boise State past Brigham Young 74-70 on Wednesday.

Rayj Dennis scored 19 points, Abu Kigab 14, Akot 13 and Derrick Alston Jr. 12 for the Broncos (3-1), who raced to a 14-0 lead and were up 30-21 at halftime. Alex Barcello, who didn’t make his first field goal until the first half’s final minute, led the Cougars (5-2) with 22 points.

■ San Jose State 87, Fresno Pacific 79: At San Jose, Calif., Richard Washington scored 37 points for the Spartans (1-0), who led 52-32 at halftime. Aamondae Coleman had 30 points for the Sunbirds (0-1), who forced 16 turnovers.

■ Wyoming 83, Denver 61: At Laramie, Wyo., Marcus Williams scored 30 points for the Cowboys (4-1), who forced 27 turnovers. The Pioneers (1-2) held a 35-30 edge in rebounds.

■ No. 2 Baylor 83, Stephen F. Austin 52: At Waco, Texas, Adam Flagler had 14 points for the Bears (4-0), who scored 40 points off 35 turnovers.

The Lumberjack­s (3-1) had won 18 straight.

■ No. 13 Texas 74, Texas State 53: At Austin, Texas, Greg Brown scored 18 points for the Longhorns (5-1), who had nine dunks on 12 first-half field goals. The Bobcats (3-2) got within seven points in the second half.

■ No. 13 Wisconsin 73, Rhode Island 62: At Madison, Wis., Brad Davison scored 23 points for the Badgers (4-1), who led 33-16 at halftime after the Rams (3-3) missed 20 of 27 shots.

■ No. 17 Texas Tech 51, Abilene Christian 44: At Lubbock, Texas,

Kyler Edwards scored 19 points for the Red Raiders (5-1), who shot 28 percent. The Wildcats (5-1) last led with seven minutes left.

■ No. 19 Richmond 78, Northern Iowa 68: At Richmond, Va., Tyler Burton had 21 points for the Spiders (4-0), who erased a three-point deficit with a 21-6 run. The Panthers (1-4) missed 16 of 19 3-point tries.

■ No. 20 Florida State 69, Indiana 67, OT: At Tallahasse­e, Fla., Scottie Barnes banked in a runner with two seconds left in overtime for the Seminoles (2-0) in their 25th straight home win. Trayce Jackson-davis had

25 points and 17 rebounds for the Hoosiers (3-2).

WOMEN

■ No. 2 Louisville 73, Duke 49: At Durham, N.C., Dana Evans scored 24 points for the Cardinals (5-0, 1-0 Atlantic Coast), who led by six in the third quarter. The Blue Devils (3-1, 0-1) missed 15 of 16 3-point tries.

■ No. 4 North Carolina State 76, Elon 47: At Raleigh, N.C., Elissa Cunane had 22 points and 13 rebounds for the Wolfpack (5-0) in their 40th straight nonconfere­nce home win. The Phoenix (2-1) shot 27.9 percent.

■ No. 9 Kentucky 79, Marshall 45: At Lexington, Ky., Blair Green scored 17 points for the Wildcats (5-0), who led 13-0. The Thundering Herd (1-1) scored 19 second-half points.
