Eagles QB Hurts to get second start NOTEBOOK
Coach Doug Pederson said Monday that Jalen Hurts will start at quarterback again for the Philadelphia Eagles when they visit the Arizona Cardinals.
Hurts led the Eagles to a 24-21 upset over the New Orleans Saints (10-3) in his first career start Sunday after replacing Carson Wentz.
Hurts wasn’t sacked, the first time Philadelphia’s depleted offensive line didn’t allow a sack this season. Wentz has been sacked 50 times.
Pederson also confirmed safety Rodney McLeod tore an ACL, cornerback Darius Slay is in the concussion protocol and cornerback Avonte Maddox will miss some time with a knee injury.
■ Broncos: Cornerbacks Duke Dawson and Kevin Toliver suffered season-ending knee injuries.
■ Buccaneers: Coach Bruce Arians said running back Ronald Jones might have a fractured little finger and they are waiting to see if he needs a pin inserted.
■ Lions: Detroit is hoping quarterback Matthew Stafford can play at Tennessee. He hurt his ribs while diving for a first down late in Sunday’s loss to Green Bay.
■ Panthers: Running back Christian Mccaffrey is set to practice Tuesday and could play Saturday versus Green Bay, Nfl.com reports.
■ Washington: Coach Ron Rivera said quarterback Alex Smith’s calf injury is being evaluated. Smith exited late in the first half and did not return in a victory over San Francisco.
■ 49ers: Receiver Deebo Samuel likely is done for the season with a hamstring strain.
