Agbaji’s late shot sends No. 5 Kansas to victory
LUBBOCK, Texas — Ochai Agbaji made a go-ahead layup with 13 seconds left and totaled 23 points as No. 5 Kansas beat No. 14 Texas Tech 58-57 on Thursday, giving the Jayhawks a win in their conference opener for the 30th straight season.
Marcus Garrett had 10 points and 10 rebounds for Kansas
(7-1, 1-0 Big 12), which shot 40.4 percent and never had a run of more than seven points in a row.
Mac Mcclung scored 21 points and Terrence Shannon Jr. 20 for the Red Raiders (6-2, 0-1). Jalen Wilson blocked Shannon’s midrange jumper to end the game.
■ No. 9 Creighton 94, St. John’s 76: At New York, Marcus Zegarowski hit 6 of 7 3-point tries and totaled 20 points for the Bluejays (5-2, 1-1 Big East). The Red Storm (5-4, 0-3) led by two in the second half before a 22-4 Creighton run.
