Northweste­rn State no match for Gonzaga; Baylor dominant COLLEGE BASKETBALL

SPOKANE, Wash. — Corey Kispert scored 27 points and No. 1 Gonzaga beat Northweste­rn State 95-57 on Monday night in the Bulldogs’ home opener.

Anton Watson scored 15 points for Gonzaga (5-0), while Jalen Suggs added 12 points, seven rebounds and seven assists.

Carvell Teasett scored 16 points and Jairus Roberson 12 for Northweste­rn State (1-8), which is picked to finish near the bottom of the Southland Conference.

Kispert made 10 of 13 shots and added seven rebounds in the first meeting between the teams.

Gonzaga has won 32 consecutiv­e regular-season home openers since losing to Boise State in 1988.

■ No. 2 Baylor 99, Arkansas-pine Bluff

42: At Waco, Texas, Freshman guard LJ Cryer scored 15 points to lead five players in double figures for the Bears (6-0). Shaun Doss Jr. finished with 25 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Golden Lions (1-8).

■ No. 8 Tennessee 102, Saint Joseph’s

66: At Knoxville, Tennessee, Victor Bailey scored 18 points to lead six Volunteers (5-0) who scored in double figures. Ryan Daly topped the Hawks (0-5) with 13 points and Dahmir Bishop scored 12.

■ No. 21 Florida State 72, Gardner-webb 59: At Tallahasse­e, Florida, Anthony Polite had a career-high 15 points and Balsa Koprivica added a season-best 14 for the Seminoles (5-1). Lance Terry had 23 points for the Runnin’ Bulldogs (14), who did not score in the final 2:42.

■ No. 24 Virginia Tech 84, Longwood 58: At Blacksburg, Virginia, Jalen Cone scored 18 points off the bench on 5 of 15 from the floor to lead the Hokies. Leslie Nkereuwem paced Longwood (1-7) with 10 points. MOUNTAIN WEST

■ Boise State 77, New Mexico 53: At Boise, Idaho, Derrick Alston Jr. had 20 points and six rebounds and Rayj Dennis had 16 points for the Broncos (5-1, 1-0 MW). Makuach Maluach scored 12 points for the Lobos (3-1, 0-1). WOMEN

At Los Angeles, Francesca Belibi dunked the ball and had 15 points and seven rebounds for the Cardinal (7-0, 4-0 Pac12), which survived its closest game of the season. Michaela Onyenwere had 19 points and seven rebounds for the Bruins (5-2, 3-2).

■ No. 8 Oregon 69, Washington State

65: At Pullman, Washington, Nyara Sabally had 19 points and 14 rebounds for the Ducks (7-0, 5-0 Pac-12), who extended the nation’s longest winning streak to 26 games, dating to last season. Charlisse Leger-walker scored 20 points for the Cougars (3-1, 2-1).
