No. 1 Stanford women flex muscle

TUCSON, Ariz. — Haley Jones had 18 points and 10 rebounds as top-ranked Stanford overwhelme­d No. 6 Arizona early in an 81-54 rout Friday.

Lexie Hull had 13 points and Cameron Brink 11 points, nine rebounds and five blocks for the Cardinal (8-0, 5-0 Pac-12), who bolted to a 15-2 lead and were up 44-20 at halftime.

Sam Thomas led the Wildcats (7-1, 5-1) with 14 points, and Aari McDonald added 12 on 3-for-18 shooting. Arizona missed 21 of its final 23 first-half shots.

No. 4 Stanford last season, shot 19 percent in the first half and finished at 26 percent while falling to 0-5 against top-ranked teams. They were outrebound­ed 51-32.

At Louisville, Ky., Dana Evans scored 17 of her 20 points in the second half for the Cardinals (6-0), who overcame a five-point third-quarter deficit in their first game since Dec. 9. Louisville transfer Lindsey Duvall led the Norse (4-5) with 20 points. Kianna Smith had 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Cardinals, who missed 13 of 14 3-point tries in the first half.

No. 8 Oregon 92, Southern California 69:

At Eugene, Ore., Taylor Mikesell made four 3-pointers and totaled 16 points for the Ducks (8-0, 6-0 Pac-12), who had six double-figure scorers and extended their nation-best win streak to 27 games. Endyia Rogers scored 20 points for the Trojans (3-5, 1-5), who trailed by as many as 26 points in their ninth straight loss to Oregon.
