Oregon women’s win streak ends

EUGENE, Ore. — Michaela Onyenwere had 33 points and 10 rebounds to help No. 11 UCLA hold off No. 8 Oregon 73-71 on Sunday, snapping the Ducks’ 27-game win streak.

In addition to the nation’s longest active win streak, the Ducks (8-1, 6-1 Pac-12) had won 24 straight conference games and 22 consecutiv­e games at Matthew Knight Arena.

Charisma Osborne added 22 points for the Bruins (6-2, 4-2), who had not played since Dec. 21 when they fell to No. 1 Stanford 61-49 at Pauley Pavilion.

Te-hina Paopao scored 19 points for Oregon, which trailed by as many as 11 points in the final quarter but went on a 9-0 run to get within 71-69 with 2:25 left.

Nyara Sabally hit two free throws to tie it with 1:20 to go, but Onyenwere’s layup put UCLA back in front. After trading turnovers, the Ducks got the ball back with seven seconds left but didn’t score.

■ No. 1 Stanford 68, Arizona State 60: At Tempe, Ariz., Francesca Belibi had 23 points and 12 rebounds for the Cardinal (9-0, 6-0 Pac-12), who had a 41-30 edge in rebounds. The Sun Devils (7-3, 3-3) trailed 19-2 but got within four midway through the third quarter.

■ No. 3 North Carolina State 76, Boston College 57: At Raleigh, N.C., Elissa Cunane scored 24 points on 9-for-9 shooting for the Wolfpack (100, 5-0 Atlantic Coast), who led 38-29 at halftime and dealt the Eagles (4-4, 0-4) their fourth straight loss.

■ No. 6 Arizona 69, California 33: At Tucson, Ariz., Aari Mcdonald had 12 points, eight assists and six steals for the Wildcats (8-1, 6-1 Pac-12), who shot 51 percent and scored 26 points off 31 turnovers by the Golden Bears (0-9, 0-6).

■ No. 9 Texas A&M 92, Florida

67: At Gainesvill­e, Fla., N’dea Jones had 17 points and 18 rebounds in her sixth double-double of the season for the Aggies (10-0, 1-0 Southeaste­rn). The Gators (7-2, 0-2) stayed close until yielding a 22-4 fourth-quarter run.

■ No. 10 Arkansas 91, Missouri

88: At Fayettevil­le, Ark., Chelsea Dungee scored 25 points for the Razorbacks (10-2, 1-1 Southeaste­rn), who hit all eight of their free throws in the final 2:08. The Tigers (4-3, 0-2) trailed by double digits in the second half.

MEN ■ No. 5 Houston 74, Southern

Methodist 60: At Dallas, Quentin Grimes hit a go-ahead 3-pointer to ignite a 10-0 run to open the second half for the Cougars (8-1, 3-1 American Athletic). Kendric Davis scored 23 points for the Mustangs (6-1, 2-1).

■ No. 16 Michigan 85, No. 19 Northweste­rn 66: At Ann Arbor, Mich., Hunter Dickinson scored 19 points for the Wolverines (9-0, 4-0 Big Ten), who hit 12 of 27 3-point tries and shot 50 percent overall to bury the Wildcats (6-3, 3-2).

■ No. 21 Minnesota 77, No. 25

Ohio State 60: At Minneapoli­s, Liam Robbins had 27 points, 14 rebounds and five blocks for the Gophers (10-2, 2-2), who went 3-1 in a 10-day stretch against ranked foes. The Buckeyes (8-3, 2-3) missed 24 of 32 second-half shots.
