Thorpe Award finalist Moehrig of TCU declares for NFL draft

Texas Christian junior safety Trevon Moehrig declared for the NFL draft. A finalist for the Thorpe Award, given annually to the nation’s top defensive back, Moehrig is a twotime All-big 12 pick whose nine takeaways over the past two seasons are tied for second nationally. He had 47 tackles and nine pass breakups this season and is ranked No. 21, and first among safeties, among draft-eligible players by ESPN.

■ Boise State: Former record-setting quarterbac­k Kellen Moore said he no longer will pursue the team’s coaching job after signing a three-year extension to remain Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinato­r. The 32-year-old, whose contract was to expire after this season, won 50 games as Broncos QB from 2008 to 2011.

■ Texas: Senior quarterbac­k Sam Ehlinger bypassed his extra year of eligibilit­y afforded by the COVID-19 crisis to enter the NFL draft. The four-year starter is second in program history to Colt Mccoy in completion­s, passing yards, total offense and passing TDS. ESPN ranks Ehlinger 10th among draft-eligible QBS.

■ Auburn: Wide receiver Anthony Schwartz declared for the NFL draft. The junior had a team-high 54 catches in 2020 for 636 yards and three TDS and had 117 catches for 1,433 yards and six TDS in three seasons. He set a world youth record with a 10.15-second 100-meter time in the 2017 Florida Relays.

■ Southern California: Five-star defensive end Korey Foreman committed to the Trojans over Louisiana State, Georgia and Arizona State. The Corona, California, native initially committed to Clemson before changing plans. ESPN ranks him No. 3 in the 2021 class.

■ Georgia: Linebacker Azeez Ojulari declared for the NFL draft. Ranked the No. 3 draft-eligible outside linebacker by ESPN, the sophomore led the Bulldogs in sacks (8.5), tackles for loss (12.5) and forced fumbles (four) in 2020.
