Duke shakes off rust, ekes out win

DURHAM, N.C. — Wendell Moore Jr. scored a season-high 25 points to help No. 21 Duke hold off Boston College 83-82 on Wednesday while Hall of Fame coach Mike Krzyzewski was sidelined because of COVID-19 protocols.

The Blue Devils (4-2, 2-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) rallied from 16 down before halftime in their first game in three weeks.

C.J. Felder scored 24 points for the Eagles (2-8, 0-4), including a 3-pointer with one second left. Quinnipiac graduate transfer Rich Kelly scored a season-high 16 points for Boston College.

■ No. 2 Baylor 76, Oklahoma 61:

At Waco, Texas, Macio Teague scored eight of his 17 points in an opening 16-2 run by the Bears (10-0, 3-0 Big 12), who never trailed the Sooners (6-3, 2-2). All of Baylor’s 10 wins have been by at least 11 points.

53: At Omaha, Neb., Damien Jefferson scored 16 of his 19 points in the first half for the Bluejays (9-2, 5-1 Big East), who dealt the Pirates (8-5, 5-2) their most decisive loss in Kevin Willard’s 11 seasons as coach.

At Knoxville, Tenn., Josiah-jordan James and Victor Bailey each scored 17 points for the Volunteers (8-1, 2-1 Southeaste­rn), who made eight free throws in the final minute. Jamie Notae had 19 points for the Razorbacks (9-2, 1-2).

Minnesota 57: At Ann Arbor, Mich., freshman Hunter Dickinson scored 28 points for the Wolverines (10-0, 5-0 Big Ten), who shot 57 percent and held the Gophers (10-3, 3-3) to 32 percent.

State 63: At Houston, Quentin Grimes scored 20 of his 22 points in the second half for the Cougars (9-1, 4-1 American Athletic), who shot 38 percent. Tyson Etienne had 25 points for the Shockers (6-3, 2-1), who led by 10 with 18:44 left.

■ Louisville 73, No. 19 Virginia Tech 71: At Louisville, Ky., David Johnson hit a key free throw with five seconds left and totaled 17 points for the Cardinals (8-1, 3-0 Atlantic Coast), who led 47-33. Jalen Cone hit six 3-pointers and totaled 23 points for the Hokies (8-2, 2-1).

■ No. 22 Virginia 70, Wake Forest 61: At Charlottes­ville, Va., Sam Hauser scored 11 of his 16 points in a 28-10 run to open the second half for the Cavaliers (6-2, 2-0 Atlantic Coast), who had all of their starters score in double figures. The Demon Deacons (3-2, 0-2) led 39-34 at halftime. MOUNTAIN WEST ■ Utah State 77, New Mexico 45:

At Lubbock, Texas, Neemias Queta scored 18 points for the Aggies (8-3, 5-0), who held the Lobos (3-5, 0-5) to 26.8-percent shooting in their seventh straight win. New Mexico lost its fifth in a row.
