All-star Springer agrees to six-year contract with Jays

Free-agent outfielder George Springer agreed to a six-year, $150 million deal with Toronto. The 31-year-old three-time All-star has batted .270 in seven major league seasons, all with Houston, and hit at least 20 home runs in five of six seasons through 2019. The 2017 World Series

In other Blue Jays news, the team agreed to a one-year, $5.5 million deal with free-agent reliever Kirby Yates. The 33-year-old right-hander, limited to six 2020 appearance­s with San Diego before requiring elbow surgery, had a 1.19 ERA, 101 strikeouts and 41 saves in 60 2/3 innings with the Padres in 2019. He has a 3.54 ERA in seven major league seasons with four teams.

■ Astros: Free-agent left fielder

Michael Brantley agreed to a two-year,

$32 million deal. The 33-year-old four-time All-star spent the past two seasons with Houston after 10 with Cleveland, batting .297 overall with two 20-homer seasons, including 2019.

■ Angels: Free-agent left-hander Jose Quintana agreed to a one-year, $8 million deal. The 31-year-old is 83-77 with a 3.73 ERA in nine major league seasons with both Chicago teams. He’s won 13 games three times, including in 2016, when he was an All-star.

■ Twins: Free-agent left-hander J.A. Happ agreed to a one-year, $8 million deal. The 38-year-old 2018 All-star is 12392 with a 3.98 ERA in 14 major league seasons with six teams, including the past three with the New York Yankees.
