Boise State tops Utah State

BOISE, Idaho — Derrick Alston Jr. scored 26 points to lead Boise State past Utah State 79-70 in a battle for first place in the Mountain West on Wednesday.

The Broncos (17-4, 13-3) overcame a 39-37 halftime deficit by making 15 of 17 free throws and improved to 10-0 at home. Neemias Queta had 32 points and 10 rebounds for the Aggies (14-6, 11-3), who had a 37-32 edge in rebounds.

■ Wyoming 83, New Mexico 74, OT: At Colorado Springs, Colo., Marcus Williams had 17 points to lead six double-figure scorers for the Cowboys (11-9, 5-8), who halted a four-game skid. The Lobos (5-12, 1-12) were playing their first game since Jan. 30. TOP 25 MEN

■ No. 17 Southern California 89, Arizona State 71: At Los Angeles, Evan Mobley had 22 points, nine rebounds and seven assists for the Trojans (18-3, 12-2 Pac-12), who are 18-3 for the first time since 1973-74. Remy Martin scored 30 points for the Sun Devils (7-10, 4-7), who were swept by USC for the first time since 2011.

■ No. 19 Tennessee 93, South Carolina 73: At Knoxville, Tenn., Victor Bailey hit 7 of 10 3-point tries and totaled 29 points for the Volunteers (15-5, 8-5 Southeaste­rn), who led 50-39 at halftime and dealt the Gamecocks (5-10, 3-8) their fourth straight loss.

■ No. 22 Loyola-chicago 54, Valparaiso 52: At Chicago, Keith Clemons had 16 points for the Ramblers (19-4, 14-2 Missouri Valley) in their 20th straight home win. The Crusaders (8-15, 5-9) led by nine with 1:18 left in the first half.

■ No. 9 Maryland 103, Illinois

58: At College Park, Md., Katie Benzan had 22 points for the Terrapins (15-2, 11-1 Big Ten), who led 54-33 at halftime. The Illini (3-13, 1-13) were outrebound­ed 52-37 and had 24 turnovers.
