Tatum’s late heroics derail Beal, Wizards

Celtics withstand guard’s 46-point outing

BOSTON — Jayson Tatum made two twisting, driving baskets in the final 15 seconds and totaled 31 points Sunday, leading the Boston Celtics past the Washington Wizards 111-110 despite Bradley Beal’s 46 points.

The Wizards led 110-105 after Beal’s driving basket with 47 seconds left before the Celtics sliced their deficit to one on Tatum’s acrobatic shot in the lane with 15 seconds to go.

Beal then turned the ball over before Tatum’s twisting bucket put the Celtics up 111-110 with 4.7 seconds left. Beal got trapped in front of Boston’s bench and fired up a shot that bounced off the rim as the buzzer sounded.

■ Hornets 127, Kings 126: At Sacramento, Calif., Findlay Prep product P.J. Washington scored a career-high 42 points for Charlotte, which closed on a 15-5 run and went ahead on Malik Monk’s three-point play with 1.4 seconds left. Sacramento lost for the 10th time in 11 games.

■ Bucks 105, Clippers 100: At Milwaukee, Giannis Antetokoun­mpo scored 36 points for Milwaukee, which closed on a 9-0 run to win for the first time in 11 games this season when trailing after three quarters. Los Angeles didn’t score in the final 4:01.

■ Suns 118, Timberwolv­es 99: At Minneapoli­s, Devin Booker scored 21 of his 43 points in the third quarter for Phoenix (22-11) in its 14th win in 17 games. Minnesota, which led 76-74 with 2:18 left in the third, lost its eighth straight.

Knicks 109, Pistons 90:

■ At Detroit, Julius Randle had 25 points for New York (18-17), which is over .500 this far into a season for the first time since the end of 2012-13.

■ Grizzlies 133, Rockets 84: At Houston, Justise Winslow had 20 points for Memphis, which dealt Houston its 11th straight loss. The Rockets missed 41 of 45 3-point tries.

■ Lakers 117, Warriors 91: At

Los Angeles, Lebron James had 19 points for Los Angeles while becoming the 23rd NBA player to appear in 1,300 regular-season games.

■ Heat 109, Hawks 99: At Miami, Kendrick Nunn had 24 points for Miami, which used a 10-0 fourth-quarter run to win its sixth straight.
