Iowa tops No. 4 Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Luka Garza had 24 points and 11 rebounds as No. 9 Iowa downed No. 4 Ohio State 73-57 on Sunday for its fifth win in six games. Joe Weiskamp scored 19 points for the Hawkeyes (18-7, 12-6 Big Ten). The Buckeyes (18-7, 12-7) didn’t lead after the first minute in their third loss in eight days.

■ Butler 73, No. 8 Villanova 61:

At Indianapol­is, Chuck Harris had 20 points for the Bulldogs (9-13, 8-11 Big East), who held the Wildcats (15-4, 103) to one field goal over the first half ’s final seven minutes.

■ No. 12 Houston 98, South Florida 52: At Houston, Quentin Grimes scored 22 points, all in the first half, for the Cougars (20-3, 13-3 American Athletic), who scored 22 points off 15 turnovers by the Bulls (8-10, 4-8).

MOUNTAIN WEST

■ Utah State 87, UNR 66: At Logan, Utah, Neemias Queta had 26 points and 13 rebounds for the Aggies (167, 13-4), who held a 47-24 edge in rebounds. Grant Sherfield, who had averaged 18.5 points for the Wolf Pack (14-9, 9-7), scored six.

WOMEN

■ No. 2 North Carolina State 68, Syracuse 61: At Syracuse, N.Y., Elissa Cunane had 17 points for the Wolfpack (17-2, 12-2 Atlantic Coast), who dealt the Orange (12-7, 9-7) their first home loss of the season.

■ No. 3 Texas A&M 65, No. 5 South Carolina 57: At College Station, Texas, the Aggies (22-1, 13-1 Southeaste­rn) notched their ninth win over a ranked foe this season and won their first regular-season SEC title. The Gamecocks (19-4, 14-2) trailed 35-34 at halftime.

■ No. 4 Stanford 72, California 33: At Stanford, Calif., the Cardinal (22-2, 19-2 Pac-12) had just six turnovers and scored 18 points off 18 turnovers by the Golden Bears (1-15, 1-12) in their 11th straight win.

■ No. 6 Louisville 78, Notre Dame 61: At South Bend, Ind., Dana Evans had 26 points for the Cardinals (21-2, 14-2 ACC), who clinched their fourth straight regular-season league title. The Irish (10-9, 8-7) had 25 turnovers.

■ No. 8 Maryland 62, Northweste­rn 50: At Evanston, Ill., Mimi Collins had 18 points for the Terrapins (19-2, 15-1 Big Ten), who clinched a share of their third straight league title. The Wildcats (13-6, 11-6) trailed by at least seven for the final 5:18.

■ Arizona State 66, No. 9 Arizona 64, OT: At Tempe, Ariz., Taya Hanson hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 56 seconds left in overtime and totaled 19 points for the Sun Devils (11-9, 6-9), who dealt the Wildcats (15-4, 13-4) a second straight loss for the first time this season.
