Mobley, USC outlast Utah

No. 24 Trojans net double-ot victory

Evan Mobley scored 13 of his 26 points after regulation as No. 24 Southern California outlasted Utah 91-85 in double overtime in a Pac-12 Conference men’s basketball tournament quarterfin­al Thursday at T-mobile Arena.

The second-seeded Trojans (22-6) had difficulty shaking the seventh-seeded Utes (12-13) in a game filled with methodical possession­s.

Timmy Allen scored 20 points and Ian Martinez 16 for Utah, which trailed 34-29 at intermissi­on and 51-41 midway through the second half.

The Utes cut their deficit to three on Alfonzo Plummer’s pull-up jumper with 4½ minutes left in regulation and again on a Plummer runner with two minutes to go.

■ Oregon State 83, UCLA 79, OT: Warith Alatishe scored 22 points for the fifth-seeded Beavers (15-12), who overcame a 16-point first-half deficit to upend the fourth-seeded Bruins (17-9).

Ethan Thompson had 18 points and Jarod Lucas 17 for Oregon State, which next faces top-seeded Oregon (20-5) in a semifinal at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Jules Bernard had 19 points and 10 rebounds and Johnny Juzang 12 points for UCLA, which led 34-24 at halftime in its fourth straight loss. The game had 11 ties and seven lead changes.

■ Oregon 91, Arizona State 73: L.J. Figueroa scored a season-high 21 points for the top-seeded Ducks (20-5), who shot 59.0 percent while making 10 of 18 3-point tries to oust the eighth-seeded Sun Devils (11-14).

Will Richardson had 17 points, nine assists and seven rebounds for Oregon, which didn’t miss consecutiv­e shots in the final 15 minutes until it led 60-35 with 1:30 left.

Alonzo Verge Jr. had 28 points and Remy Martin 16 points and six assists for ASU, which trailed 35-27 at halftime. Eugene Omoruyi scored 15 points for the Ducks, who have won six straight games to reach 20 victories for an 11th straight season.

■ No. 23 Colorado 61, California 58: The third-seeded Buffaloes (21-7) led 24-20 at halftime and held off the 11th-seeded Golden Bears (9-20) for their fifth straight win.

Colorado next faces second-seeded and 24th-ranked Southern California (22-6) in a semifinal at 8:30 p.m. Friday. Cal had an 8-0 run to get within 53-49 with 3:30 left and then got within 61-58 with 40 seconds to go.

Mountain West

At the Thomas & Mack Center

■ UNR 89, Boise State 82: Desmond Cambridge Jr. scored 31 points and Grant Sherfield 26 for the fifth-seeded Wolf Pack (16-9), who shot 50.8 percent and never trailed against the fourth-seeded Broncos (18-8).

Warren Washington had 18 points and 11 rebounds for UNR, which next faces top-seeded and 19th-ranked San Diego State (21-4) in a semifinal at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Devonaire Doutrive had 17 points and 10 rebounds, Derrick Alston 16 points and Emmanuel Akot 15 points for Boise State in its fourth straight loss.

■ No. 19 San Diego State 69, Wyoming 66: Terrell Gomez scored 20 points for the top-seeded Aztecs (21-4), who held on for their 12th straight win when Marcus Williams missed a long 3-point try at the buzzer for the eighth-seeded Cowboys (14-11).

Jordan Schakel and Trey Pulliam each had 15 points for SDSU, which led 33-32 after a first half that had 11 ties and four lead changes.

Xavier Dusell scored 21 points, and Williams and Hunter Maldonado each added 12 for Wyoming, which made 12 of 25 3-point tries.

■ Colorado State 72, Fresno State 62: Isaiah Stevens scored 16 points for the third-seeded Rams (18-5), who shot 52.0 percent and didn’t trail the Bulldogs (12-12) in the second half.

Kendle Moore and David Roddy each had 15 points for CSU, which next plays second-seeded Utah State (19-7) in a semifinal at 9 p.m. Friday.

Orlando Robinson had 16 points and 10 rebounds for FSU, which last led at 16-15 with 11:24 left in the first half and never led by more than two points.

Deon Stroud added 15 points and Junior Ballard 12 for the Bulldogs, who held a 33-32 edge in rebounds.

Big West

At Michelob Ultra Arena

■ UC Davis 58, Cal State Bakersfiel­d 56: Ezra Manjon hit the go-ahead layup with six seconds left and totaled a gamehigh 16 points for the fourth-seeded Aggies (10-7), who shot 50.0 percent in their win over the fifth-seeded Roadrunner­s (15-11).

Christian Anigwe and Elijah Pepper each scored 12 points for UC Davis, which next plays top-seeded UC Santa Barbara (20-4) in a semifinal at 6 p.m. Friday.

Taze Moore had 12 points to lead Bakersfiel­d, which last led at 52-51 with 2:52 left. The Roadrunner­s, who shot 48.1 percent, held a 26-24 edge in rebounds but were outscored 36-28 in the paint.

■ UC Santa Barbara 95, Long Beach State87: Josh Pierre-louis had 24 points to pace three 20-point scorers for the top-seeded Gauchos (20-4), who shot 50.0 percent and didn’t trail the ninth-seeded 49ers (6-12) after the opening minute.

Jaquori Mclaughlin had 22 points and Amadou Sow 20 points and nine rebounds for UCSB, which held a 41-32 edge in rebounds and made 26 of 32 free throws.

Colin Slater had 20 points and Isaiah Washington 13 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds for LBSU, which shot 47.9 percent while making 10 of 20 3-point tries.

Jadon Jones scored 18 points, Chance Hunter 16 and Jordan Roberts 13 for the 49ers, who trailed 44-35 at halftime.

■ UC Riverside 62, Hawaii 52: Dominick Pickett scored 14 points and Jock Perry 13 for the third-seeded Highlander­s (14-7), who held the sixth-seeded Rainbow Warriors (11-10) without a field goal over the final 5:06.

Riverside didn’t trail after the first three minutes, and its largest lead was the final score. The Highlander­s next face second-seeded UC Irvine (17-8) in a semifinal at 9 p.m. Friday.

Junior Madut scored 12 points and Mate Colina 10 for Hawaii, which shot 36.5 percent.

■ UC Irvine 58, Cal Poly 51: Collin Welp had 15 points and 10 rebounds for the second-seeded Anteaters (17-8), who never trailed and held the 10th-seeded Mustangs (4-20) to 29.8-percent shooting.

Brad Greene had nine points and nine rebounds for UC Irvine, which led by 22 in the first half and by seven at intermissi­on in its fifth straight win. The Anteaters had no field goals in the final 4:20.

Alimamy Koroma scored 17 points and Colby Rogers 12 for Cal Poly, which was outrebound­ed 39-32.

At Orleans Arena

■ Seattle 83, California Baptist 66: Nate Robinson scored 27 points and Darrion Trammell 26 for the fifth-seeded Redhawks (12-10), who scored 17 points off 15 turnovers by the fourth-seeded Lancers (13-10).

Seattle led 42-37 at halftime and held Cal Baptist to eight second-half field goals on 32-percent shooting. The Redhawks next face top-seeded Grand Canyon (15-6) in a semifinal at 5 p.m. Friday.

Gorjok Gak had 17 points and 11 rebounds for the Lancers, who closed the regular season by splitting two games with Seattle that were decided by one and three points.

■ New Mexico State 77, Texas-rio Grande Valley 61: The third-seeded Aggies (11-7) built a 39-24 halftime lead and coasted past the sixth-seeded Vaqueros (9-10) for their fourth straight win.

New Mexico State next faces second-seeded Utah Valley (11-10) in a semifinal at 8 p.m. Friday. UTRGV closed on a six-game skid.
