Three Running Series races slated for Strip in February

The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series now is the Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series, and its companion Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas Half Marathon is the Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series Las Vegas. A half marathon as well as 10- and 5-kilometer races will be Feb. 26-27, 2022, on the Strip. A full marathon will not be run.

■ Figure skating: At Stockholm, Sweden, two-time Olympic champion Yuzuru Hanyu of Japan outscored two-time defending world titlist Nathan Chen of Salt Lake City for the first time since the 2018 Olympics, topping the world championsh­ips short program. Chen was third, also behind 17-year-old Yuma Kagiyama of Japan.

■ College basketball: Grand Canyon senior forward Oscar Frayer was killed in a car accident Tuesday in Lodi, California, three days after the Antelopes played in their first NCAA Tournament. He was 23. A four-year starter, Frayer averaged 6.6 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 2020-21.

■ Tennis: At Miami, top-ranked

Ash Barty rallied from a 5-2 third-set deficit and overcame a 0-40 match point in the final game to edge 149thranke­d qualifier Kristina Kucova 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 in an opening-round Miami Open match.

■ NBA: Stan Albeck, a former coach who went 307-267 from 1979 to 1986 with Cleveland, San Antonio, New Jersey and Chicago, died Thursday in hospice care. He was 89. Albeck had a stroke March 14.

■ Soccer: At Wiener Neustadt, Austria, Sebastian Lletget scored twice as the United States beat Jamaica 4-1 in an exhibition, improving to 7-0-1 in its past eight matches.
