Mackinnon’s two goals key Avalanche’s win over Blues

DENVER — Nathan Mackinnon scored two goals and Brandon Saad added another to lead the surging Colorado Avalanche to a 3-2 win over the St. Louis Blues on Friday.

Jonas Johansson had 25 saves for his first win for Colorado in his second start since coming over from Buffalo in a March 20 trade. Gabriel Landeskog had two assists for the Avs, who have gone 11-02 in their past 13 games to take over first place in the West Division.

The Blues got goals from Mike Hoffman and former Golden Knight David Perron and 36 saves from Jordan Binnington but lost their fifth straight.

■ Maple Leafs 2, Jets 1, SO: At Winnipeg, Manitoba, Jason Spezza scored the lone shootout goal, and Jack Campbell had 31 saves through overtime and three in the shootout to move to 8-0-0 this season.

■ Coyotes 4, Ducks 2: At Anaheim, Calif., Phil Kessel scored the go-ahead goal with 7:58 left and had an assist, and Lane Pederson scored in his NHL debut for Arizona in its fourth win in five games.

■ Capitals 2, Devils 1, OT: At Newark, N.J., Dmitry Orlov scored on a length-of-the-ice rush with 21 seconds left in overtime in Washington’s seventh straight win over New Jersey this season.

■ Sharks 3, Kings 0: At Los Angeles, Martin Jones stopped 30 shots in his 25th shutout and first this season, and Tomas Hertl had a goal and an assist in San Jose’s third straight win.

■ Oilers 3, Flames 2: At Edmonton, Alberta, Connor Mcdavid scored the tiebreakin­g goal at 7:01 of the third period, handing Jacob Markstrom his fifth straight loss.
