Nevada fishing report

- Nevada Department of Wildlife

■ Lake Mead — Anglers are having success for black bass. Soft plastics fished near Boulder Basin spawning grounds are producing great fish. Stripers are taking anchovies from Las Vegas Bay shore anglers. Live bait is working well for boaters trolling between 40 and 60 feet. The bite is best in the late afternoon and overnight.

■ Lake Mohave/willow Beach — Two- to 3-pound rainbow trout are taking spinners from kayak anglers south of Willow Beach. Boat anglers targeting striped bass are reeling in 10-pound fish on shad and trout-pattern lures. Lake Mohave boaters are enjoying an increase in black bass activity near their beds. Craws and worms in purple, red and green are tempting fish up to 4 pounds.

■ Laughlin — The lagoon remains a hot spot for black bass. Anglers are reporting bites on jerkbaits, trout swimbaits and soft plastics. Striper activity is picking up. Most fish are between 1 and 3 pounds, but one lucky angler caught a 25-pounder along Casino Row. Anchovies are the bait of choice for stripers.

■ Las Vegas urban ponds — Channel catfish are biting chicken liver and night crawlers fished a few inches off the bottom. Seasonal trout plants have ended. Sunset

Park is having water pump issues and cannot receive fish until it is fixed. Bluegill are hitting mealworms off the bottom. Plastics and spinnerbaits are enticing bass at Floyd Lamb Park.

■ Kirch Wildlife Management Area — Trout fishing is good across the reservoirs, though action at Dacey and Adams-mcgill is sluggish. Anglers are using Powerbait, spinners and flies. Anglers fishing Hay Meadow are catching trout using spinners and plastic worms.

■ Eagle Valley Reservoir — Trout were planted last week.

Tigers and rainbow trout are hitting lines from shore and boats. Bait anglers are using worms with marshmallows. Fly-fishers are catching fish with tan and olive Woolly Buggers. Spin-fishers have had success using Mepp’s lures with red, white or yellow spots.

■ Echo Canyon Reservoir — Rainbow trout fishing is improving, and the reservoir is filling up. Fish are taking worms and Powerbait. Fly-fishermen have been doing well using Woolly Buggers.
