Nevada fishing report

■ Lake Mead — The bite is picking up for black bass, striped bass and catfish in Boulder Basin. Black bass anglers are reporting success using jerkbaits, jigs and soft plastics. Swimbaits and anchovies are tempting stripers from shore and boat. Government Wash catfish are eager to take anchovies. Virgin Basin anglers using tube jigs are finding schools of crappie.

■ Lake Mohave/willow Beach — Shore anglers are catching 1- to 2-pound rainbow trout with green glitter Powerbait. Kayakers are catching trout with Rooster Tails south of the marina. The black bass bite is hot all over the lake. Fish are becoming aggressive as the spawn commences. Anglers are reporting hard hits on soft plastic worms and green pumpkin craws.

■ Laughlin — One- to 4-pound striped bass have been caught through Casino Row. Anchovies and trout swimbaits are recommende­d choices. Black bass anglers are targeting the lagoon and Big Bend State Recreation Area. Rainbow trout are taking spinnerbai­ts and nightcrawl­ers in areas with cover.

■ Las Vegas urban ponds — Trout plants are done for the year. Anglers still are catching trout with Powerbait and night crawlers. Trout sometimes will bite into May. Dropshot rigs and spinnerbai­ts are enticing bass at Floyd Lamb Park.

■ Kirch Wildlife Management

Area — Trout fishing is good across the reservoirs. Eighteen- to 24-inch trout are taking nymphs, Woolly Buggers and Rooster Tails. Adams-mcgill anglers are catching fish with trout and night crawlers. For black bullhead catfish, try a night crawler 2 to 3 feet below a bobber or a light weight with a nightcrawl­er a foot up from the bottom.

■ Eagle Valley Reservoir — Tiger and rainbow trout are hitting for shoreline anglers and boaters. Anglers are finding success with night crawlers and marshmallo­ws. Fly-fishers are catching fish with tan and olive Woolly Buggers and nymphs. Bass are catch-and-release only until June 30. Spring Valley State Park campers have full amenities.

■ Echo Canyon Reservoir — Anglers are finding good fishing for rainbow trout with worms and Powerbait. Fishing is picking up as the water level rises. Bass action also is picking up. All amenities are available for park visitors.
