■ Weightlifting: Hidilyn Diaz became the first Olympic gold medalist from the Philippines, winning the women’s 55-kilogram category to stop China’s bid for a perfect Tokyo Games in weightlifting.

■ Table tennis: Japanese pair Jun Mizutani and Mima Ito ended China’s recent dominance in the sport by beating Xu Xin and Liu Shiwen 4-3 for the mixed doubles title. The upset comes five years after China swept all four table tennis tournaments at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games.

■ Women’s triathlon: Flora Duffy has won gold, earning Bermuda’s first medal of any kind since
1976. Duffy, 33, a two-time former world triathlon series champion, is one of two athletes representing Bermuda in Tokyo.
