Marie Stewart passed away peacefully on October 11, 2021 in Las Vegas, NV at the age of 78. Marie is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Gary W. Stewart; her children Jennifer Stewart, William Stewart (Christina), Annette Phillips (Earnest), Jason Stewart (Jennifer), Heather Rice (Christophe­r), 14 grandchild­ren and 2 great grandchild­ren; her siblings Allan Henderson (Rolayn) and Ann Henderson. She is preceded in death by her parents Clifford Allan Henderson and Lillian Iris Henderson. Marie was born on April 6, 1943 in Whittier, CA. Marie’s father worked as an accountant for the Union Oil Company and they moved frequently. She lived in Playa del Rey CA, Bakersfiel­d CA, Denver CO, and Arcadia CA. Marie attended Arcadia High School. Upon graduating from High School, she attended Brigham Young University. She was one of the

BYU Cougarette­s and thoroughly enjoyed the opportunit­y to dance and perform, while also focusing on her studies. While at BYU she met Gary Stewart from Las Vegas, NV. They instantly fell in love and were married on June 4, 1964. Marie

graduated from BYU with a B.S. Degree in Human Developmen­t & Family Relations. She earned her teaching certificat­e in Nevada and California but chose to be a homemaker and stay home to raise her children. Marie was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many capacities within the church such as Young Women’s leader, Den leader, Nursery leader, Counselor in the Ward Relief Society Presidency, Counselor in the Stake Relief Society Presidency, Compassion­ate Service leader, and Visiting Teaching Supervisor. She faithfully supported her husband Gary in his business and church callings, and he was honored to serve her in the latter part of her life when she suffered with Alzheimer’s disease. Marie had a wonderful, sweet, positive attitude. She was loved by all and was a dedicated wife and mother. She enjoyed cooking and perfecting recipes. Feeding people brought her much joy. Her famous strawberry jam was a family favorite. Marie loved to travel with her husband and visited many countries and places in the United States. A viewing is scheduled for Friday October 29, 2021 from 6:30pm to 8:00pm at the Tree Line church building located at 2285 Tree Line Dr, Las Vegas, NV 89142. Another short viewing will be held Saturday October 30th from 8:00am to 8:30am and the Funeral will follow from 9:00am to 10:00am at the same building. All are welcome to attend and celebrate
