KIM LONG CHESLEY

-

Kim Long Chesley, of Las Vegas, NV passed away after a long and well lived life. He was a fighter until the end and left his earthly body on October 22nd at the age of 69. Kim, better known as Poppy to those around him, was larger than life. He was born in Sherman, Texas, but always considered Las Vegas his home. Kim was an educator with the Clark County

School District for over 3 decades, and if you ever had Mr. Chesley as your teacher, you considered yourself blessed to have known this amazing man. Kim also enjoyed working as a horseshow announcer, and loved his Arabian horseshow family. If you ever were lucky enough to visit with Kim, you knew right away he was a natural story teller. He

loved Las Vegas history and took every chance he could to tell you all about his travels and finds across the valley. He met the love of his life and soulmate, Barbara Ann Thaler-chesley when they were teenagers, and were later married, they had one daughter, Melissa Ann. Poppy was an amazing grandfather to his only granddaughter, Gabriella, who he lovingly referred to as GB. Kim loved old cars, especially his 1961 Lincoln Continental, and if you stopped by for a talk, he would always offer to take you for a ride with the top down. He is survived by his loving daughter, Melissa; son-in-law, David; and granddaughter, Gabriella. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara.
