Henry out indefinitely; Titans to add Peterson

-

NFL rushing leader Derrick Henry will have surgery Tuesday on his right foot, and coach Mike Vrabel says the Tennessee Titans are not putting a timeline on when he will return.

Henry had tests Monday to check the severity of the injury after he finished a 34-31 overtime win in Indianapolis. The Titans placed Henry on injured reserve Monday afternoon.

The Titans were finalizing a deal on Monday to sign 2012 MVP and fourtime All-pro Adrian Peterson to the practice squad with plans to promote the 36-year-old running back to the active roster, according to a person with direct knowledge of discussions. The person spoke to The Associated Press on terms of anonymity because the Titans have not announced any deal with Peterson.

■ Browns: Starting right tackle Jack Conklin will miss “multiple weeks” after dislocating his left elbow in Sunday’s loss to Pittsburgh.

Coach Kevin Stefanski said Monday he’s not entirely sure whether Conklin will need surgery or have to go on injured reserve.

Stefanski does expect Conklin to return at some point this season.

■ Packers: Coach Matt Lafleur says he knows whether 2020 All-pro left tackle David Bakhtiari will make his season debut Sunday at Kansas City.

He just isn’t planning to announce whether the 2020 All-pro will be available. Bakhtiari hasn’t played since tearing the ACL in his left knee on Dec. 31.

■ Vikings: Defensive end Danielle Hunter will miss the remainder of the season with a torn pectoral muscle.

Coach Mike Zimmer confirmed the diagnosis Monday after the two-time

Pro Bowl pick had an MRI in the morning.

■ Ravens: Starting linebacker Malik Harrison was recovering Monday after being struck in the left calf by a stray bullet at what the team described as a gathering in Cleveland the night before.

The Ravens released a statement saying only that Harrison’s injury is “nonlife-threatening.” The 23-year-old was treated at a hospital and has been in touch with team doctors.

It’s not yet known if his injury will affect his playing status.

■ Washington: Coach Ron Rivera said Monday he’s sticking with Taylor Heinicke as the starting quarterback after the team’s upcoming bye week.

Heinicke threw two interceptions in a loss at Denver that dropped Washington to 2-6.

Heinicke has completed 63.8 percent of his passes for 2,065 yards, 12 touchdowns and nine interceptions since taking over for injured starter Ryan Fitzpatrick midway through the season opener.
