Your Birthday Poem

-

I was not quite eight, when you first met my gaze Your tiny brown eyes, peering up at my face There you would rest, safely in my arms Glowing with life, radiating with charm

I didn’t know it then, I was too young to have guessed But that November day, was the day I’d been blessed Into my world, you entered on the fourth

From that moment on, our lives were set on course

I’d play by your side, making you smile Little did we now, that all the while A bond was developing, a force great and true One that would endure, stronger, than we knew

Sitting on your steps, I ran by and messed up your hair Making sure you knew, in this little girl, I did care Through your adoring eyes, you’d see my face Exciting your heart, quickening its pace

During your teenage years, we fell somewhat out of touch Seeing each other at gatherings, it really wasn’t that much But when we were together, my Earth, how sparks did fly The sensation we felt, was like fireworks in the sky

You then developed an agenda, to be my wife someday For that to come true, I could only have prayed It seems we had been cast, from the same unique mold Meant to be together, until we grow old

We decided as adults, to pursue our desires

To live with one another, to let passion, ignite our fires And so it began, the life we always wanted Through thick and thin, we swore to remain undaunted

But then lightning stuck, our dreams came crashing in Twenty long years, until we’d be together again

Yet our love would endure, you’d again look into my eyes Our hearts could not be severed, we’d come to realize

Our connection is like a spell, a true mystical power Strengthening over time, growing in size by the hour

It is difficult to believe, that we share the same heart Beating inside two bodies, that are nearly eight years apart

Forty-seven years ago, today it began

When you first looked up at me, when I first held your hand A boy and a baby, our spirits then unite

Together forever, in love, with all our might

Each day I thank the Universe, way, way up above For bringing us together, for keeping us in love To think we’d come this far, our bond to transcend Against all odds, to be together, until the end

To: My Soulmate My One True Love My Everything My Earth

HAPPY 47th BIRTHDAY!

With all my heart, and everything I am

I promise to love you, the best I can

You’ll never be alone again, this time, we’ll see it through Forever and ever, I’ll remain, in love with you!
