MAXINE "MICKIE" BRATSCHIE

-

She was such a pretty lady---a "looker" really, in her younger years, and still beautiful at age 93. The first thing you noticed was her smile and her dimples, and you knew that she was sweet, gentle, and kind. Maxine "Mickie" Bratschie, born on April 8, 1928 in Kansas City, MO, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 31, 2021. Her 93-yearold heart and mind were awe-inspiring -tempered by a lifetime of talent, tenacity, devotion to God and family, and an unwavering honest and moral character. As a young woman in Kansas City, she was a talented writer for Hallmark Cards, a model, and pursued an acting career until she met the love of her life, Fred. They were married in 1951 and recently celebrated their 70th Anniversary. From Kansas City, she moved to California and enjoyed 28 wonderful years living in Orange County. In 2004 she moved to Las Vegas and happily called it home. Mickie loved her clubs and organizations. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church; Junior Chamber of Commerce Wives, Kansas City; Johnson County, Kansas, United Way; an active member of Tri Psi Sorority for 49 years and served as past International President; an active member and President of Rossmoor Women’s Club, Los Alamitos, CA; and a long-standing member of Republican Women’s Club. Her passion was writing poems, short stories, lyrics, limericks, commentary for fashion shows, speeches for conventions and tributes for those she loved. A talented bridge player, slot machine lover, wife and mother to Linda and Craig, a loving sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and second mother to many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Her favorite destination of all was the beauty and serenity of Sedona. We praise God for this exceptional Lady. She was like no other. We know now she is with her Lord Jesus enjoying his comfort and love. She is survived by her loving husband Fred, her Daughter Linda Chain (Jeff) and her son Craig Bratschie (Kim). She will be missed every day by the many that loved her. Memorial Services are planned for a later date.
