INGEBORG H MATEJKA

-

This is a loving dedication to Ingeborg H. Matejka. In her lifetime, Inge was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. Inge was born on December 17, 1935, to Hildegard Sturm and George Wilhelm Gund. She is survived by her sister, Iris Hutton, and her brother, Rainer Gund. She grew up in Inning am Ammersee, Germany, and came to the United States in 1961 marrying her husband, Lauren Matejka, who loves her and misses her presence every day. She had six children that love her immensely: Klaus, Harold, Monte, Cindy, Dean and Sandy. Her legacy includes 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Soon after arriving in the US, Inge and Lauren moved the growing family to

Loveland, Colorado, where she became a dedicated Denver Broncos fan. A move to Las Vegas came in 1978, and that is where she called home until passing on October 23rd, 2021.

Inge was the matriarch of the family she and Lauren created. There was never a birthday she forgot, never a newborn in the family that didn't get a few handcrocheted blankets and never a Christmas without baked cookies, homemade fudge and presents for everyone. Throughout her life she excelled at any job she had; working at Hewlett-packard for many years while in Colorado and as a cashier at the Flamingo Hilton gift shop in Las Vegas. Inge made lifelong friends and kept an immaculately clean and orderly home. She was a talented crocheter, an amazing cook and an animallover - having many spoiled pets over the years. Inge was a wiz at math and enjoyed keeping score while playing cards with friends and family. She enjoyed living in Las Vegas, playing keno at her favorite casinos and swimming. She had a remarkable talent to float effortlessly in the pool without getting a hair on her head wet!

None of what is written here can convey how much she will be missed and the legacy she leaves. Her children, grandchildren, and all great-grandchildren alone, ensure that her time on this earth was meaningful and purposeful. Inge will forever be present in those she touched, remembered by those who knew her and cherished by those who love her most. A memorial service for Ingeborg H. Matejka will be held on Friday, November 19, 2021, 11:00 a.m., at Lamb of God Lutheran Church located at 6220 N Jones Blvd. North Las Vegas, NV 89130.

If you wish to make donations on Inge's behalf, please donate to Lamb of God Lutheran Church noting; "In memory of Inge Matejka."
