SAUNDRA JOHNSON

-

After a two-year battle with cancer that she conducted with strength, dignity and grace, Saundra "Sandy" Johnson, 62, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2021, in her home in Las Vegas while surrounded by her family.

Sandy was born in 1959 in Butte, Montana to Charles and Jean Moody. Sandy is survived by her husband, Gary; her children, Brady Johnson (Maggie) and Shaina Eulau (Chris); her brother Bill Moody (Barbara); and her grandchildren, Charles Eulau, Theodore Johnson, Summer Eulau and Caroline Johnson.

Sandy moved to Las Vegas with her family in 1962 when she was three years old. She graduated from the University of Nevada - Las Vegas (UNLV) in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Accounting). While at UNLV she was active as a Little Sister of the Sigma Chi fraternity and was named Sweetheart of Sigma Chi in 1980.

After graduation in 1981 Sandy started her professional career with Deloitte in its Los Angeles office. She returned to Las Vegas in 1982 to marry Gary. She continued her professional career with positions in CPA firms and corporate finance while she and Gary started and raised a family. The last five years of her career were her most fulfilling. She chaired multiple executive groups for Vistage International and later helped to build and teach the curriculum for new group chairs, traveling as far as Lima, Peru to help build new leaders. She was passionate about helping others to be their best and reach their goals.

She had exceptional energy and enthusiasm, especially for her children: she balanced her family and career while also volunteering with the PTA; she chaperoned Shaina's dance team trips; she acted as the manager of Brady's hockey team; and she served as treasurer and chaperoned trips for both Brady and Shaina's high school bands.

Sandy loved traveling and experiencing new adventures, snow and water skiing, road trips with Gary, and spending time with her many dear friends. Most of all, she loved arranging for the entire family to be together for birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, or for no reason other than to just get together.

A memorial service is scheduled for Monday, November 15, 2021, at 1:00 pm at the chapel at Canyon Ridge Christian Church (6200 W Lone Mountain Road), followed by a Celebration of Life at 3:00 pm at Emerald at Queensridge (8914 S Rampart Blvd).
