Jags DE Josh Allen bests namesake QB as Bills fall

-

Jacksonville had the better Josh Allen on this Sunday, with the defensive end intercepting a pass, making a sack and recovering a fumble in the Jaguars’ 9-6 upset of visiting Buffalo.

The star quarterback for the Bills (5-3) with the same first and last names turned over the ball three times, including twice in the second half, while throwing for 264 yards and running for 50. He didn’t have a second-half turnover in any previous game this season.

The first of two deciding moments came on third-and-2 at the Jaguars’ 37 with 5:30 left. Allen fumbled after getting pressured by defensive end Dawuane Smoot. The other Josh Allen recovered.

Buffalo got the ball back in the waning minutes and advanced to the Jaguars’ 39. But Smoot sacked Allen on third down, the fourth sack by Jacksonville (2-6).

■ Browns 41, Bengals 16: At Cincinnati, Nick Chubb ran for 137 yards and two TDS, Baker Mayfield threw for two scores, and cornerback Denzel Ward returned an interception 99 yards for an early TD for Cleveland (5-4). Joe Burrow absorbed five sacks for Cincinnati (5-4), including two by cornerback Troy Hill, and threw two interceptions — raising his season total to 22. He fell to 0-3 against the Browns.

■ Dolphins 17, Texans 9: At Miami Gardens, Fla., fill-in QB Jacoby Brissett threw for 244 yards and a TD for Miami (2-7), which won for the first time since 1990 when committing five turnovers. Tyrod Taylor returned for Houston (1-8) after missing most of the season with a hamstring injury and threw three interceptions. Ka’imi Fairbairn kicked three field goals for the Texans, who had four turnovers.
