Nevada fishing report

-

■ Lake Mead — Callville Bay and Echo Bay are hot spots for black bass. Jigs, crankbaits and Ned rigs are tempting fish. Striped bass boils have slowed. Boaters are having moderate success casting shad-look swimbaits. Anglers are catching catfish as large as 5 pounds with chicken liver in weedy coves after sunset.

■ Lake Mohave/willow Beach — Boaters are jigging and trolling to catch striped bass. Trout-pattern lures are producing the most consistent results. Stripers are boiling near Katherine Landing and Davis Dam. Fish are hitting topwater lures and jerkbaits thrown just outside the boils. Try Ned rigs, swim jigs or Rat-l-traps for black bass.

■ Laughlin — The striped bass bite has slowed on the river. Fish in the 1-pound range are taking anchovies, but anglers are struggling to reach 10-fish limits. Rainbow trout plants continue along the river. Powerbait, Panther Martin lures and flies are catching fish.

■ Las Vegas urban ponds — Bluegill and catfish action is steady. Catfish are biting on night crawlers and hot dog pieces around sunset. The bass bite has slowed. Trout were planted this week in Floyd Lamb, Sunset and Veterans Memorial parks and Cold Creek. Stocked rainbows love night crawler pieces, Powerbait and marshmallows.

■ Kirch Wildlife Management

Area — Water levels are steady.

Aquatic vegetation is declining, but wind is pushing lines around. Overnight temperatures are below freezing. Rainbow trout action has been good from boats. Stocked trout are taking Kastmasters, Powerbait and night crawlers. Be cautious of weather changes.

■ Eagle Valley Reservoir — Trout action has been good, with fish taking spinning lures and spoons. Bait anglers have been doing well from shore using night crawler chunks, Powerbait and mini marshmallows.

■ Echo Canyon Reservoir — Rainbow trout action has been good. Anglers using kayaks or floatables to fish beyond the shoreline vegetation or those fishing from the dam are getting most of the bites. Fish are taking Powerbait in rainbow, orange and green colorations, as well as Mepp’s spinners and Rooster Tails.
