Dickinson, No. 6 Michigan start fast, roll past Buffalo

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Hunter Dickinson scored 27 points to help No. 6 Michigan open with an 88-76 win over Buffalo on Wednesday.

Terrance Williams had 15 points, Caleb Houstan 11 points and six rebounds and Eli Brooks 11 points and four assists for the Wolverines (1-0), who led by as many as 21 points in the first half and were up 51-36 at intermissi­on.

Jeenathan Williams scored 32 points, Ronaldo Segu 15 and Josh Mballa 13 for the Bulls (0-1), who shot 41.2 percent. Michigan shot 54.2 percent. Buffalo got as close as five points with five minutes left.

No. 20 Florida State 105, Pennsylvan­ia 70: At Tallahasse­e, Fla., Malik Osbourne had 18 points and 13 rebounds for the Seminoles (1-0), who held a 49-29 edge in rebounds. Jordan Dingle scored 23 points for the Quakers (0-1), who trailed 51-39 at halftime.

MOUNTAIN WEST

New Mexico 99, Florida Atlantic 92: At Albuquerqu­e, N.M., Jaelen House had 30 points and six assists for the Lobos (1-0), who shot 53 percent and led 43-41 at halftime. Michael Forrest scored 26 points for the Owls (0-1), who had a 42-25 edge in rebounds.

Wyoming 85, Detroit Mercy 47:

At Laramie, Wyo., Hunter Maldonado had 19 points, nine assists and six rebounds for the Cowboys (1-0), who shot 54.8 percent and held the Titans (0-1) to 31.0 percent.

WOMEN

No. 8 Indiana 86, Butler 63: At Indianapol­is, Nicole Cardano-hillary scored 29 points on 11-for-12 shooting, including 7-for-8 on 3-pointers, for the Hoosiers (1-0), who shot 52 percent. The Bulldogs (0-1) shot 50 percent but committed 18 turnovers.
