Rookie helps Carolina end Ducks’ win streak at eight

ANAHEIM, Calif. — Rookie Seth Jarvis scored the go-ahead goal with 10:26 left to lead the Carolina Hurricanes past Anaheim 2-1 on Thursday, halting the Ducks’ eight-game win streak.

Defenseman Ethan Bear scored his first goal of the season for Carolina (13-2) to back Frederik Andersen, who stopped 31 shots in the Hurricanes’ third straight win.

Troy Terry scored for Anaheim (105-3) to extend his point streak to 16 games.

■ Oilers 2, Jets 1, SO: At Edmonton, Alberta, Connor Mcdavid scored the tying goal with 5:35 left in regulation to extend his season-opening point streak to 16 games and then scored one of Edmonton’s two shootout goals. Rookie Stuart Skinner had 45 saves through overtime and two in the shootout for the Oilers.

■ Panthers 4, Devils 1: At Sunrise, Fla., Jonathan Huberdeau and Anthony Duclair each had a goal and an assist to back Spencer Knight, who had a career-high 45 saves in Florida’s 13th straight regularsea­son home win.

■ Penguins 6, Canadiens 0: At Montreal, Tristan Jarry had 24 saves in his eighth shutout and first this season, Teddy Blueger had two goals and an assist, and Pittsburgh halted a three-game skid.

■ Blue Jackets 5, Coyotes 4, SO: At Glendale, Ariz., Boone Jenner scored twice in regulation for Columbus, which won on Yegor Chinakhov’s goal in the seventh shootout round.

■ Flames 5, Sabres 0: At Buffalo, N.Y., Jacob Markstrom had 27 saves in his 13th shutout and Nhl-best fifth this season, and Andrew Mangiapane had two goals and an assist.

■ Lightning 4, Flyers 3, SO: At Philadelph­ia, Steven Stamkos and Brayden Point each scored in the shootout and in regulation for Tampa Bay in its seventh win in nine games.

■ Maple Leafs 2, Rangers 1: At Toronto, Morgan Rielly scored twice to back Jack Campbell, who stopped 27 shots in Toronto’s 10th win in 11 games.

■ Blues 4, Sharks 1: At St. Louis, Brandon Saad scored twice to back Ville Husso, who had 26 saves, as St. Louis halted a four-game slide.

■ Wild 7, Stars 2: At St. Paul, Minn., Kirill Kaprizov had a goal and three assists to back Cam Talbot, who stopped 36 shots.
